The 2009 Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama will kick off the fifth season of competition at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring March 19-20. 2009 marks a year of positive changes for the highly-competitive series featuring Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, one of the world's most successful race cars. In 2009, as in 2008, there will be two classes racing at the same time. The Platinum Cup features 2008 and 2009 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars. In 2008 Bob Faieta edged out Dino Steiner for the Platinum Cup championship in the final round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The Gold Cup will again be for Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars from 2005 through 2007. 2008 Gold Cup champion Tony Rivera showed that horsepower isn't everything, winning overall three times on his way to a dominant championship season. With the addition of Patrón Spirits and Yokohama, the GT3 Challenge will be featured on SpeedTV with hour-long programing after each event. The Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama will compete at seven different North American venues in 2009. All race weekends feature two 30-minute races. The season-finale at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will be one 30-minute race and one 75-minute race.
Each event will have two 30 minute races, except for the Monterey Sports Car |
